Cole, John G.

Submitted by Jimmy H Cole

I promised to add my families' AL connections. My earliest Ancestor (proven) is John G Cole b. 1796 SC. He married Parzada Clement in 1822 in Bibb Ala. Parzada's family lived in Bibb. Parz's father was Zephania Clement... John & Parzada traveled to I T Texas about 1824. Had 2 kids b4 leaving Tuscaloosa area. Had 3 kids in Texas (Alfred Clement Cole - my gggrand b. 1829 IT Tex - Rueben C Cole b.1827 & daughter‎ Eveline b.1825 Tex) All returned to Tuscaloosa area in time for 1830 US cencus where my line Alfred was listed as under 1 yo born Texas. The Clements : Zephaniah father, Dorthy Jones (I believe) lived in Bibb area as lote as 1860's. Evaline (AC's sister) d. 1906 Hale Al. She married John Blackbum Payne who was b.Perry AL 1827 & d. Perry 1869. After John & Parzada returned to Tuscaloosa the following children were all born in what was once I T of Ala (Tuscaloosa - Bibb - Perry - Hale -Lamar) area.; William C Cole b. 1835, Thomas C Cole b. 1837 Tuscaloosa, Nancy Elizabeth Cole b,1843 Bibb. Alfred clem Cole married Elizabeth Theressa Reed (daugh of William Reed) b.1834 Married 1853 in Perry AL. Alfred d. 1906 in Perry. AC & Theeressa dad following children: Rueben b.1855, Wm Thomas b.1856, Nancy Elizabeth b.1859, Cameron Alfred b.1866, and my ggf Zephaniah Calhoun Cole b.1868 - all lived in NW Ala for most of their lives. Zeph did move to Lamar co Ala then crossed the state line to Lowdnes co MS - where in 1896 my GF Mervin Hardy Cole was born. In my line: Shaw, Funderburk, Andrews, Cole and Howell all lived in this same general area of Alabama. My ggggf on mother's side -Abe Howell - settled in Monroe County Mississippi in about 1809 (Athens, MS). In fact the now tiny community of Hamilton, (now Monroe co MS) was the county seat of Lamar County Alabama AND Monroe county Mississippi AT the Same Time. Abe Howell's wife, Sarah Andrews Howell's sister married another John Cole. -They also settled in Tuscaloosa before 1820. My challenge is to find John G Cole's parents. I found at least 4 John Coles born 1796 in SC but relocated to NW alabama _ all with a Rueben-James-John-Wm-Thomas in their families.
