Notes for JAMES WESLEY PAGE:
James Westly Page is said to be buried in the Prairie Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Hill County, Texas.

In John Wesley Hardin's book "The Life Of John Wesley Hardin" on pages 17-18 (late Fall 1869) John stated that he and his brother, Joe Hardin, stopped at Hillsboro, Texas to visit his Aunt Anne Hardin and family and then went 7 to 8 miles out to visit Uncle Barnett Hardin.  John stated that they then, "went on down the Brazos to some relatives of ours named Page, where I speculated in cotton and hides.  I played poker and seven-up whenever I got a chance and once in a while would bet on a pony race.  These races generally came off on the old Boles track near Towash.  A man named John Collins (Possible James Collins as noted by Leon Mert's book listed below on page 312) had married a cousin of mine, and I went into partnership with him. ........I had been receiving letter from my father and mother urging me to quit my wild habits and turn to better ways.  They wrote that they were going to move down to the Page settlement so that they could be with me."

Note in Leon Metz book on "John Wesley Hardin Dark Angel of Texas" page 312 footnote 13 he stated a fifty-year-old James W. Page shows up in the 1870 Hill County census.  He and his wife Martha had five children.  The name Towash (town near the Page settlement) comes from a Hainai Indian chief of the 1850's.  The town vanished under Whitney (Lake Whitney) Reservoir in 1951.  I also discovered that the persons buried in the Towash Cemetery graves were moved to the cemetery in Whitney, Texas.  I checked the cemetery at Whitney and could not find any Page's buried there.
