Descendants of Hiram Bush

Generation No. 1

1. Hiram1 Bush was born Abt. 1828 in Georgia, and died June 09, 1864 in
Kentucky, in Civil War. He married Anise Louise Rodgers Bef. 1850 in
Georgia, daughter of Richard Rodgers and Nancy ?. She was born December 1831 in South Carolina.

Notes for Hiram Bush:
1850 Coosa County, Alabama census, Coosa District, #373
ROGERS, Richard 54 SC Farmer
Nancy 54 SC
Martha 16 SC
BUSH Hiram 22 GA
Anne 18 SC

According to Aunt Mattie Mahan and her daughter Edna Mae Sellers, Hiram Bush was killed in the Civil War. His wife never knew for sure what happened to
him. He didn't return from the fighting. She heard he had been killed.

From Confederate Records, Hiram Bush was killed in Kentucky, June 9, 1864 and buried at Cove Hill, Kentucky. He was in Co. H 24th Ala, CSA.

Notes for Anise Louise Rodgers: Anise Louse and her brother William moved by wagon train from South Carolina to Alabama with their family. Her brother said he'd be so glad when they got across he river they were crossing, because he'd have horns when he got to Alabama from being behind the oxen so long.

Anise had a sister named Martha who married a Wilson and her Brother William Rogers became a Baptist Preacher.

Marvin Cowley, of McCalla, Alabama stated in a conversation held in the late 1970's that he helped dig the grave of Anise Louise Bush Jarman. Water was coming into the grave so fast that they had to bury her in the water.

1870 Bibb County, Alabama Census, Kingdom Beat, #53/53, living next to Richard RODGERS at 51 and John MAHAN and Mary Bush at 52.

Marvin Cowley of McCalla, Alabama described Mary Bush Mahan as a small slender woman.

On May 9, 1975, I interviewed Aunt Mattie Russell at the home of Edna her daughter: Aunt Mattie is the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Bush and John S. Mahan. She said Mary Elizabeth Bush was the daughter of Anice Louise Rodgers and Hiram Bush. Hiram Bush was killed in the Civil War. Anice Louise heard from him, and he said he was sick and that was the last word she ever had of him. There were three children of this marriage: Mary Elizabeth, brother called Scooter Bush, father of Bucksville set and she couldn't remember the name of the other child. Anice Louise RODGERS had a brother named William Rodgers who was a Baptist Preacher. Her sister, Martha married a Wilson, she is buried in Bucksville Cemetery. Mary Elizabeth Bush died in 1911. She remembered the following KIMBRELLs related to the MAHANs: Aunt Mealie Kimbrell who had two sons, Jake and Milo. Jacob Kimbrell married Nancy and had the following children;
Walter, John, Will, Clay, Alice, Martha and Lida. After Nancy's death he married a cousin Betty Russell. They had no children.
