Richard is the gr.gr.gr.grandson of Presley Rottenberry of Bibb County, Alabama. Presley is buried at Sandy Chapel Cemetery, near Centreville. Presley was born in Mecklenburg County, Va. and was a veteran of the war of 1812 and was discharged as a Sgt. Presley moved to Bibb County in , around 1825. Presley and Elizabeth Ann Collier had 9 children, most of who are buried in Bibb County. Presleys 5th born son was John Monroe, 9/23/1826-died 1910. Buried Antioch Cemetery, headstone reads Co. H, 29th Alabama Infantry. CSA. Presley’s 1st born son was Charles J. Rotenberry of Orange County, N.C. (soon after his marriage to Elizabeth Ann Collier of Chapel Hill, N.C.). Charles J.’s son, Presley’s grandson was James J. Rotenberry,born, Bibb County, Ala. , buried Garvin County, Okla. headstone reads: Capt. James J. Rotenberry, Co. D, 20th Ala. Infantry. Another son of Charles J. Rotenberry was Columbus Lafayette Rotenberry, born Bibb County, Ala. 6/22/1841. grave is unknown. but muster papers read: Co. D, 20th Ala. Regiment, CSA Sept. 9th, 1862, under the command of Capt. Richard Pratt. The 8th child born to Presley and Elizabeth Rotenberry was: Henry Franklin Rotenberry, 2/25/1839 – died 4/16/1909, buried Sandy Chapel Cemetery, Bibb County, Ala. , headstone reads: Co. H, 44th Ala. Regiment, CSA.
