Born: Shelby Co., Alabama, May 2, 1839. Married Nancy Frances Elizabeth Barnes June 12, 1859 Enlisted at Bibb County, Alabama September 9, 1861 "for the duration of the war" by Captain Richard H. Pratt. Captured first at Port Gibson, Mississippi on May 1, 1863 and received at Military Prison at Alton, Ill. on May 18, 1863 where he was paroled until exchanged on June 12, 1863 at City Point, Va. Captured a second time after the battle of Nashville on December 17, 1864 on the Harpeth River near Franklin, Tennessee. Sent to Military prison at Louisville, Kentucky where he was received on January 1, 1865; transferred to Camp Chase, Ohio on January 4, 1865. Released at Camp Chase, Ohio on June 12, 1865 on signing oath of allegiance. Moved to Navarro County Texas in 1886. Received Confederate pension #29765 to date from December 14, 1914. Died June 11, 1915 and buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Navarro County Texas. Wife Nancy died June 11, 1928 and buried in Corsicana, Texas.
