Robert R. Thompson, Sr. Cemetery

 AKA Thompson Cemetery

Information for this cemetery submitted by Pat Northcutt, John William (Bill) Adkison, Tuscaloosa, AL, and the late Herman Belcher.

Notes by Herman Belcher (deceased): My brother and I found new graves on a private plot between Ingate Pass and Eoline Road in Eoline, Bibb County, AL.

Bill Adkison thinks Howard McCord, in his book "Cemeteries of Bibb County", used the name Keeton and Thompson Cemetery because of the fact the only marker in the cemetery was that of the Keeton child. Bill said he had never heard the name Keeton and Thompson Cemetery until it was used by McCord. Bill states the following persons are buried in the cemetery:

Keeton, A. N., Tombstone of Andrew Noble Keeton, son of Noble and Susan Thompson Keeton. The dates on the stone read March 16, 1860 - October 15, 1874. Located in the Robert R. Thompson Sr. cemetery. This is the only original tombstone remaining in the cemetery. Other markers in this cemetery were placed by Bill Adkison, Tuscaloosa, GGG GS of Robert Sr. [*Note: Cemeteries of Bibb Co by Howard McCord is incorrect noting the death date as 1871. Bill has family Bible records noting the correct date of 1874, as noted on the tombstone.]

Keeton, Susan Thompson

Murphy, Robert Lee, b. 1902 d. 1908

Thompson, Celia Lee, wife of Robert Sr.

Thompson, Charity Lassiter Meggs, Dec 4, 1847 - Oct 19, 1889, (lst wife of Robert Jr.)

Thompson, Robert R. Jr., 12/23/1843 - 5/31/1900, Co. G. 23 Alabama Inf. CSA. [*Note: the death date on tombstone is incorrect. Bill ordered the CSA marker and submitted the correct dates, but the stone arrived with the wrong death date. Bill attempted to scratch over the wrong date and insert the correct date of 5-31-1900. This scratching can be seen on the stone.]

Thompson, Robert R. Sr.

Thompson, Susannah F. (Susan) Meggs, Dec 16, 1852 - Dec 5, 1897 (2nd wife of Robert Jr.)

There are approximately 20 other unmarked graves. We can only speculate who is buried in these graves.
