p 73 - " ... outstanding minister who served this historic church [Oakmulgee Baptist] was the Rev. Abner G. McCraw, who was born in SC in Newberry District, on June 4, 1803. When he was but 15 years of age, his father, Stephen McCraw*, sent him to Perry Couny to prepare a home for the family in the wilderness.
"Here, on July 25, 1820, he claimed land, and then erected a cabin for his family. It was here that his father sickened and died on April 2, 1821, and became the earliest burial recorded in Oakmulgee Church Cemetery
