George Mayberry

pp 39-40 - "Born in October , 1760, in New Jersey, George Mayberry was living in Bedford County, VA, in 1779, when he enlisted as a private in Captain John Cottrell's Company in the VA Militia, for a term of 3 months. In the autumn of 1781, he again enlisted, and was present at the battle of Yorktown.

"At the end of the war, Mayberry moved to Hancock County, TN. He migrated to Perry County Early Settlers around 1820, where he farmed. In 1830, he was the owner of 12 slaves. The attorney of his estate received his last pension payment of May 24, 1836. He did on November 11, 1848."
