p 39 - "This early-day silver- and goldsmith was born 15 Mar 1763 Norwich, CT. His Marion Cemetery grave stone states he was soldier in Revolution.
"In 1785 Huntington was practicing his trade in Hillsboro, NC; there he married Mary Palmer 12 October 1789; was a member of 9-man Orange Co. Horse Co., - chosen to guard the state funds when they were removed from Hillsboro to Fayetteville.
"Old silversmith moved to Marion with his children and grandchildren 1833; died 8 Sep 1836."

p 135 "Came to Marion in 1833 with son William. William Huntington, born Hillsboro, NC 8 Sep 1792, learned trade of silversmith from his father and established his first shop in 1815 in NC.
"1839, owned 200 acres several miles from Marion, plus a house and lot on 4 acres and a 2-story house occupied as a Jeweler's Store in Marion, but didn't sell out and remained in business with John Huntington."

"William Huntington died Marion 27 Oct 1874. His wife, Frances R. House, b Franklin Co. NC 28 Dec 1802; died Marion 9 Jul 1877; both are buried Marion Cemetery."
