COLUMN HEADINGS Column 1: Dwelling houses numbered in order of visitation. Column 2: Families numbered in order of visitation. Column 3: The name of every person whose place of abode on the first day of June 1870 was in this household. Column 4: Age at last birthday (If under 1 year, months are given in fractions). Column 5: Sex - Males (M); Females (F). Column 6: Color - White (W), Black (B), Mulatto (M), Chinese (C), Indian (I). Column 7: Profession, Occupation or Trade of each person, male or female. Column 8: Value of real estate. Column 9: Value of personal property. Column 10: Place of birth naming state or territory of the U.S., or the country if of foreign birth. Column 11: Father of foreign birth. Column 12: Mother of foreign birth. Column 13: If born within the year, month born (Jan, Feb, etc.). Column 14: If married within the year, month married (Jan, Feb, etc.). Column 15: Attended school within the year. Column 16: Persons aged 10 and over who cannot read. Column 17: Persons aged 10 and over who cannot write. Column 18: Whether deaf, dumb, blind, insane or idiotic. Column 19: Male citizen of the U.S. of 21 years of age and upwards. Column 20: Male citizen of the U.S. of 21 years of age and upwards whose right to vote is denied or abridged on grounds other than rebellion or other crime. Information appearing in Columns 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 will appear following the place of birth in the form of the column number. If the couple were married within the year, the abbreviated month of the marriage will appear in parenthesis following the number "14". Information appearing in Column 18 will be placed after the number "18". Information appearing in column 13 (month of birth) will appear following Column 6 (Color) in the form of the abbreviated name of the month.
