Mt. Pleasant Cemetery • KIZZIAH (KEZAR, KISSIRE) • BOYD

James T. Newell Wed Aug 27 2003
Does anyone have information on the following individual buried at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayettte Co., AL?  "221 KIZZIAH, Alexander ~ Co. E, 13th Ala Partisan Rangers, CSA."  I am trying to establish the correct parentage of a John Alexander KIZZIAH (spelled Kezar in Bible), born Sep 1, 1829, grandson of Robert Boyd.  Robert's daughter, Elizabeth married a William M. KIZZIAH, Jr.  There is information that a Robert KISSIRE (Kizziah), who lived in Fayette Co., married Polly Boyd, but I can't establish if she is Robert's daughter, Polly.  This would give two possible sets of parents for John Alexander.

HOLT • JOHNSON
STRICKLAND • DOBBINS • HORN • HUGHES • WELDON

Ann Strickland Grainger Sun Sep 28 2003
SAMUEL B. HOLT married MARY MATILDA JOHNSON on 15 Feb 1896.  She was born 29 Nov 1877, Fayette Co., AL; d. 03 Nov 1904, Fayette Co., AL.  They had a son, WALTER B. HOLT, born June 1878.  Would like more information on all their children and SAMUEL's DOB and DOD, etc.  MARY MATILDA JOHNSON was a daughter of MARGARET LUCINDA STRICKLAND (07 Jun 1856, Cherokee Co., AL - 18 Dec 1905, Fayette Co., AL) and JAMES W. JOHNSON (b. 04 Feb 1853, Fayette Co., AL; d. 30 Feb 1930, Fayette Co., AL).

I am uncertain of JAMES W. JOHNSON's lineage, he was possibly a son of ISAAC JOHNSON, in turn a son of PRICE M. JOHNSON and first wife, NANCY ALRED who were married 29 Oct 1822 in Jefferson Co., AL.  Would like confirmation on JAMES W. JOHNSON's parents.  (There was another JAMES W. JOHNSON about the same age, who married BUENA VISTA BLACKWELL and lived in Walker Co., AL.)  One appears to have been a son of ISAAC JOHNSON and the other a son of WILLIAM PRICE JOHNSON.

Mary was a granddaughter of BARDEN STRICKLAND (b. 1825, Johnston Co., NC - d. abt. 1858, Cherokee Co., AL) and LYDIA MIRA DOBBINS (b. 1831, St. Clair Co., AL - d. 29 Jan 1907, Fayette Co., AL).  Her widowed grandmother moved to Fayette Co., AL, between 1866 and 1870, following her youngest brother, JAMES HUGHES DOBBINS and family.

She was a great granddaughter of JAMES STRICKLAND (b. 20 Dec 1795, Johnston or Nash Co., NC; d. 1782 Cherokee Co., AL) who married CELAH HORN on 31 Jul 1815, Johnston Co., NC. (She was b. 1785, NC; d. abt. 1855, Cherokee Co., AL).  She was also a great granddaughter of JAMES BARTLY DOBBINS (b. 1800, Pendleton Dist., SC; d. 1843-1849, Cherokee Co., AL), who married ELIZABETH M. HUGHES, "BETSEY," on 12 Dec 1829, St. Clair Co., AL.  (She was b. Abt. 1800, Abbeville Co., SC, d. bef. 1860, Cherokee Co., AL).

She was a great great granddaughter of EPHRAIM STRICKLAND, immigrant from England, to NC; and probably, JOEL HORN.  Other GG grandparents: STARRETT J. DOBBINS, b. 1770-1776, NC; married abt. 1795, Abbeville Dist. or Anderson Co., SC; d. bef. August 1848, Burleson Co., TX, who married RHODA HUGHES (b. 1774, Pittsylvania Co., VA, and d.1783 d. about 1842, Washington Co., TX.  Also, WILLIAM HUGHES, b. abt. 1775, Pittsylvania Co., VA; d. 01 Sep 1846, Cherokee Co., AL, who married LYDIA M. WELDON, b. abt. 1778, Pittsylvania Co., VA; d. aftr 1860, Cherokee Co., AL.  ~ Ann Strickland Grainger, 3301 Ohara Road, Huntsville, AL 35801 or E-mail MASGrainger@knology.net.
