Etowah County ALGenWeb The Gadsden Times-News Gadsden, Alabama Wednesday, August 31, 1921 Page 1 Miss Josie Brown's Sudden Death Tuesday Causes Bereavement Miss Josie Brown, age 17, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of her mother, Mrs. Minnie Brown, on Ewing avenue. Miss Josie had been ill for the past several weeks and was under the care of a physician and her sudden death was a great shock to her family and many friends in the city. She was a lovely young girl just budding into womanhood and had a large number of warm friends in Gadsden who were shocked when it became known that she had passed away. Besides her mother the deceased leaves two sisters, Miss Lillie Bele Brown and Mrs. Mary McCarver. The funeral will be held at the North Gadsden Methodist church this afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment will be bade at the cemetery at Union Hill in Tidmore Bend. Rev. Walter McBrayer and Rev. W. M. Harris will conduct the funeral services. The pall bearers were Loui Devine, Harvey Wilson, Hugh Cothran, Eugene Brady, John Duane, and Clarence Cornelius. The flower girls will be Gladys Myrick, Irene Satterfield, Katheryn Duane, Geraldine Gilbert, Ethel Baswell And Audry Pogue.
