Len or Levi BROWN ca l8l4 from SC with his occupation as rafting and then
farmer and his spouse as Barbianna ca. l8l6 SC and Barbara Anna. They had
eight children as to census. There was a Mary A. ca. l843, Louisa J. b.l844
and died in l924 and married to Joseph L. ROY in l865, Carolina ca l848, James
J. ca l850, Sarah F. ca l852, Burrell or Berket ca l853, Franklin and Edwin or
Edmund who were twins ca l854. In another census, the names are the same,
but the last name is JOHNSON. In l870 Elmore census Louisa and Caroline
aren't in the family. Evidently Louisa J is my ancestor who married a ROY
and whose child, Frances Rebecca ROY married George Washington SPEAR. Thanks

I am looking for any information concerning Peterson Gideon (P.G.)
BROGDON who lived in Tallapoosa and Elmore Counties. He was born in
N.C. abt 1805 and died in Elmore Co., Alabama between 1874 and 1880.
His second wife is buried in Tallassee in the cemetery there along with
the children by the 2nd marriage.
His first marriage is the one that I come down from. Her name was
Talitha D. (TURNER) BROGDON. She died abt 1855 and I believe it was in
Tallapoosa Co., Alabama, as Peterson married his 2nd wife Frances
(Dorris) LYONS there in Tallapoosa. Where Talitha is buried is not
known.
I have not been able to locate a grave for Peterson or his son Peterson
Gideon BROGDON, Jr. who died in 1873 at the age of 3.
I am also looking for information on the KIMBROUGH family. Shadrack
KIMBROUGH, Jr. was my 4th great grandfather. His son James Pinkney
KIMBROUGH married the daughter of Peterson Gideon BROGDON whose name was
Mary Ann BROGDON. They removed to Texas and I have all the information
on them down to me. However, there is still a lot of information on the
Shadrack KIMBROUGH family that I do not have.
Shadrack KIMBROUGH married Mary Ann LACKEY in Henry Co., Georgia. She
is buried in Tallapoosa Co., AL also. I have information that the
LACKEY family also moved to Tallapoosa, Elmore area.
Any help you can give me on these three families, would be greatly
appreciated. All I can say is help! As the records are few and far
between.

My grandmother used to tell me that she had been born in 1888 in
Chillicothe, Alabama. No one in my family has been able to locate any

The Elmore Co. website is really good! I visited because I am trying to find information a HARRISON family living in
Wetumpka in the 1840s. Richard Thomas HARRISON's Mexican War pension application says he lived in Wetumpka and
Talladega in 1846-8. A Richard Johnson HARRISON, closely related, it seems, was inspector of prisons at Wetumpka in the
same period. A Benjamin D. HARRISON of Talladega Co. married Angelina HARRISON, a cousin, whose family also has a
tradition of living in Wetumpka. All these families moved to Homer, LA, by the early 1850s, where B.D. HARRISON
founded the first newspaper.
What county was Wetumpka in in the 1840s? Any help appreciated.

Hi, my name is David Torres. I sponcer the La. GenWeb Lafourche Parish
page, so when I found that one of my ancestors came from Alabama, I
decided to try the genweb for more information.
The immediate surnames that I am looking for in Alabama is BRIGNAC and
FONTENAUT (probably FONTENOT). On a marriage cert. of one of my
BRIGNAC's, the parents are listed as (Simon BRIGNAC & Maria Luisa
FONTENAUT of Alabama). Simons full name is Simon Pierre BRIGNAC. The
marraige cert. was dated Feb. 2, 1790.
I also have some evidence that Simon and Maria were from Fort Toulouse.
I am looking for this link to continue my search for ancestors. I've
also read some history on Fort Toulouse and found that there was a
FONTENOT there that had 12 children (I think) that married other members
of the fort. I would appreciate any help in this matter.

I am looking for information on my great grandmother. She lived in
Wetumpka in 1939. Her name was Janie HERRING TAYLOR b. Nov 1895 in
Clarke co. Mississippi.. She possibly had her grandson living with her,
his name was James PACE. I would like to know when she died and where
she is buried. Also, what happened to my uncle? He was born in the mid
1930's. His parents were Johnie J PACE and Claudie TAYLOR PACE. Any help
will be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for decendents, or information on ancestors, of JOHN
LAMBERTH and PERMELIA GARRISON LAMBERTH who arrived in Alabama (Kowaliga)
1850 from Carroll County, GA. John was the tax collector for
Elmore County. I would also be interested in any information on their
four sons (Joseph, John, William & Caleb) who were killed in the
Civil War.

Seeking to share info on the DAWSON surname. The family came from
Wilmington, NC to Edgefield, SC to Elmore and Chambers Co, AL. My line
went to Claiborne Parish, LA. Many of them settled down around
Montgomery on a family estate. I have much info to share with anyone
interested in the DAWSON family.
