Wooten, 78, passed away at the home of his son, Hollie Wooten in Fort Payne Tuesday night, following a long illness. He was born in DeKalb County and had spent his entire life in the county. He was a member of the Town Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lee Broyles Wooten; seven sons, Hollie Wooten, Fort Payne, Henry, Jim and Willard Wooten, Chattanooga, Walter L. Wooten, Cleveland, Ohio, Olin Wooten, Boaz, Ala., Ollie R. Wooten, U.S. Army, South Pacific; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Browder, Chattanooga, Mrs. Roy Schafer and Mrs. Charlie Helms, Fort Payne, Mrs. Oliver Johnson, Alabama City; one brother and one sister, both of Chavies; 31 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Town Creek Thursday afternoon at one o'clock with the Rev. W. D. Sparks officiating. Interment was in adjoining cemetery with Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
