GEORGE R. THURMOND DIES AT FLAT ROCK

George Riley Thurmond, 57, of Flat Rock, passed away Wednesday following an Illness of several months. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Launer Thurmond; five sons, Wilbur E., Burlon E., Burthel, R. C. and Arion Thurmond; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Hawkins and Mrs. Millie Mae Owens; three brothers, Franklin, Henry and Robert Thurmond; three sisters, Mrs. Furly Odom, Mrs. Avery Smith and Mrs. Mandy Voyles.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at Henagar with Rev. Ted Dawson and Rev. Mr. Sparks, officiating.

Interment in the adjoining cemetery with McBryar Funeral Home in charge.
