THORNBURY Benjaman Virgil Thornbury, 80, better known as "Bird Thornbury" passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leonard Troxtel, Valley Head, Rt. 1, Monday night at 8 o'clock following a three days illness. A native of Valley Head he had lived most of his life in the White Hall community. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by six sons, Albert and Ben of Valley Head; Dexter and Earl, of Fort Payne; George and J. P. of Menlo, Ga.; three daughters; Mrs. George Tumlin, Fort Payne, Mrs. Leonard Troxtel, Valley Head, Mrs. Bailey Scott, Chattanooga, 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers; Thurman Thornbury, Mangrove, Okla.; Rev. John Thornbury, Fort Payne; Jess Thornbury, Harvey Bing, Ohio; Newt Thornbury, Valley Head; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Browder, Harlton, Texas; Mrs. Fannie Raulston, Chattanooga. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Walnut Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Leonard Cook, Deull Bryant officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery with Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
