Cordell, 71, passed away at his home in Summerville, Ga., Sunday night about 11:30 o'clock following a brief illness. He was born in DeKalb County and had spent all his life in the county until about a year ago when he moved to Summerville. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Ellis Cordell; four sons, Luther Cordell, St. Elmo, Tenn.; Mitchell Cordell, Mentone; Floyd Cordell, Rome, Ga.; Manuel Cordell, Summerville; five daughters, Mrs. Edna Crowe, Rome, Mrs. Alma Keith of Mentone, Mrs. Eula Battles, Trion, Miss Ella Cordell, Summerville, Mrs. Ruby Smith, Trion; one sister Mrs. Lizzie Ragsdale, Summerville; 21 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Head Springs Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock with the Rev. George Hawkins and the Rev. J. M. White officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery with Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
