DeKalb County ALGENWEB The Fort Payne Journal Fort Payne, Alabama Wednesday, February 11, 1958 Page 3 UNCLE DAN CHITWOOD Daniel Clayton Chitwood, 89, affectionately known as "Uncle Dan" of 206 Ala. Ave., N. passed away in DeKalb Hospital Sunday at 3:25 p.m. following a two day illness. Although he had been in poor health for three years his condition permitted him to be up and about most of the time. He was a life long resident of DeKalb County and had lived in Fort Payne for the past forty-nine years. He is survived by a son, Dr. O. Hugh Chitwood, Fort Payne; two grandsons; O. Hugh Chitwood Jr., U. E. Navy, Memphis, Tenn.; John Clayton Chitwood, Fort Payne, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Lebanon Chapel Church with the Revs. Sid Windsor, John Hottel officiating. Interment was in the Lebanon Cemetery with Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
