BROWN Charles Roscoe Brown, 74, of Mentone, passed away at his home Saturday night at 6:55 o'clock following an illness of two days. A native of Umitilla, Florida he had lived in the Valley Head and Mentone areas for the past fifty-eight years. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Mentone Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Hamman Brown, Mentone; two sons, Raymond Brown, Mentone, Carlton Brown, Washington, D. C., three daughters, Mrs. Floyd Balley, Mrs. Luther Kerby both of Mentone; Mrs. Joe Harris, Cleveland, Tenn., 14 grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mrs. Fred Jones, Mrs. E. L. Shigley, both of Mentone, Mrs. Julius Tucker, Ocilla, Ga., Mrs. Ollie Murdock, Fort Payne, Mrs. Bankston Armentrout, Jacksonville, Fla. Funeral services were held Monday at Mentone Methodist Church with the Revs. J. Paul Gilbreath, John Anderson officiating. Active pallbearers were the following: grandsons, Charles Robert Brown, Sterlyn Brown, Eddie Kerby, Max Keith, Jerald Wayne, Bailey, Obbie Blalcock. Honorary were R. F. Akins, R. A. Akins, R. K. Manderson, F. L Ferrell, Gordon Allison, Sam Barrett, Dr. W. T. Cantrell, Dr. J. E. Bathurst, O. A. Garrett, Alfred Meyer, C. H. Harvey. Burial was in the Valley Head Cemetery with Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
