Ambrester, 47, of a well known and highly respected Fort Payne family, passed away Friday evening following a lingering illness. He enlisted in the U. S. Army and served a term shortly after World War I. He spent most of his life in and near Fort Payne. He was bed-fast for many months, and had an abundance of friends left to mourn his passing. Survivors are Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Ambrester; two brother, Taft and Paul, Fort Payne; five sisters, Mrs. Troy Elrod, Fort Payne; Mrs. J. W. Windsor, Summerville, Ga.; Mrs. Lala Pell, Chattanooga; Mrs. W. L. Maron, Beasemer; Mrs. E. R. Anderson, Chattanooga, and a host of other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at Town Creek with the Rev. Floyd Crowe and the Rev. Edgar Ellis officiating. Pallbearers were Mark Woolum, Johnnie Roberts, Pete Carter, Erskine Davis, Wooford Wilson and Roy Durham. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with McBryar Funeral Home in charge.
