John Elmo Grace

John Elmo Grace, age 65 years  died  unexpectedly in a local hospital Saturday, July 3, 1965 following a heart seizure, Funeral services were held  Sunday afternoon at four o'clock from the Evergreen Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Granade officiating. Burial was in the Magnolia Cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Grace was a well known and highly respected resident of Evergreen most of his life.  So long as his health permitted he operated for a number of years a market and grocery store here. Later he was the grounds manager of the Evergreen Golf Club.

Survivors include two sons James Alvin Grace  of Jackson, Ala.and William Elmo Grace of Evergreen. One daughter Mrs. Kathleen Grace Bryant of Monroeville,  four brothers Estel Grace and Clanton Grace both of Mobile, Elrid Grace, Monroeville , and Thomas Grace Evergreen, one sister Mrs. Katie Lou Grace Phillips of  Mobile and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Essie Audrey Coker Grace in June 1940.  His late wife Florence Paul Grace died on May 2, 1965 in the  local hospital in Evergreen, Alabama.


John Elmo Grace died July 3, 1965 in the Evergreen Hospital after a short illness,   Visitation was from the home on Perryman.  Cope Funeral Home conducted service on July 4, 1965 from the First Baptist Church of Evergreen with Rev. Sam Granade officiating.  Burial  was in the Magnolia Cemetery, Evergreen, Conecuh County, Alabama.

 John( Elmo) Grace was survived by  son James  Alvin Grace of Jackson, Alabama,  daughter, Kathleen Grace Bryant of Monroeville, Alabama  and  son William Elmo Grace of Evergreen,  Alabama  one step daughter Louise.  6 grandchildren Pamela Kay Bryant,  James Lawrence Bryant of Monroeville, Audrey Elaine Grace of Evergreen, Sheryl Ann, Ester Louise and Annie Grace of Jackson Alabama    and 2 step-grandchildren, Ricky and Roddy Gaines
