NICHOLSON,Charles McKENZIE My father, his father, and my great grandfather (possibly more than one) were all named Charles. My grandfather came to Texas, along with a brother and a sister, in the late 1800s from Choctaw County, Alabama, possibly from a community named Geiger. My great grandfathers were from Choctaw County, at least as far back as the 1850s. A C. Nicholson, age 29, born in TN, is listed in the 1850 census, no family members listed. A Charles Nicholson was a county sheriff in 1850. The county census for 1860 listed a Charles (39) and Mary Jane Nicholson (31) and several children, but that Charles listed Alabama as his birthplace. A burial record shows that a Mary Jane Nicholson, age 17, wife of Charles Nicholson, was buried in Mt Pisgah cemetary just across the state line in Missippi. My grandfather, Charles Thomas Nicholson, would have been about 20 then, but we know of no first wife. He was married to a Lucy Elizabeth McKenzie from Missippi when he moved to Oklahoma. She died shortly after the birth of their third child in Arkansas, then he moved the family to a farm in north central Texas, where one of his sisters, unmarried, helped raise the children. Another brother came to Texas also, and supposedly lived in the Dallas area, or at least, some of his children did. My grandfather died at age 80 in 1945. My father and his two siblings are also dead. Does anyone know anything about this Nicholson family from Choctaw County,Alabama?

My ggrandparents, Edgar Capers(Gabe) MCADAMS & wife, Sally J. HOLIFIELD live in Isney, Choctaw Co. Ala. I have a great deal of info on their decendants but nothing on their parents or siblings. Their property was sold in 1927 or 1929 by their sons, George, Lonnie, James Monroe & Capers Edgar (Edd) MCADAMS, my grandfather to Mr. Robert LAND according to some old papers I have. I am looking for info on on this family. Thanks, Carolyn MCADAMS Flores
