Georgiana High School - 1936

 

Susan Register Collier's mother, Desland Gipson-Pride Register, provided this photograph of her graduating class of 1936. (She was known as Desland PRIDE because Robert Pride was her step-father.)

Between them, she said they could only come up with six of the boys by name.

Message Board Post:  Re: Dr. Rufus A. MOORER.   Dr. MOORER's wife, Frances Cleveland "Cleavie" NICHOLAS, was my grandmother's first cousin. Cleavie was born 19 Feb 1888 (to John Isaiah NICHOLAS and Winiford RODGERS, their youngest child) and died in April 1968, in Montgomery. She married Rufus A. MOORER around 1907 and had six children: Rufus Shanks, Mary Frances, Birdie Margaret, Demarius Rixine, Seale Alonzo, and Randolph Erle MOORER. Of these, Birdie Margaret was probably the daughter who graduated from high school in 1936.

The photo is of the Georgiana 1936 graduating class Baccalaurate Sunday.  The people in this photo are the same as the ones in the graduating class photo above, just in a different order.  Ernestine Solomon is top left of the girls with Desland Virginia Gipson Pride next to her.  The rest of that row is boys.
