The following is an excerpt from Rev. J. W. Joyner's book, A History of the Baptists in Butler County ( 1819-1957).

This is one of the new churches in the Association, having been organized June 21, 1926. A number of Baptist moved into this community from the Spring Hill Community, and one of the first things they did was organized a church. the presbytery in charge was Rev. J. B. OWENS, and two deacons, Will McCLURE and M. W. RAY. 

The charter members were Frank OWENS, J. K. COOPER, AUSTIN COOPER, J. G. COOPER, J. F. OWENS, Mrs. J. F. OWENS, W. H. HINSON, Mrs. Edna HINSON, Ollie HINSON, Lillie HINSON, Annie Mae HINSON, Ila HINSON, Mrs. Bessie COOPER, and Albert OWENS. This number was sone joined by the McCLUREs, PERRIES [Perry] and other Baptist of the community. 

The pastors serving this church: J. B. OWENS, L. R. TYNDALL, W. CRUZAN, E. B. FARROW, A. C. GREEN, ILUS [ilus] HALFORD, B. TURNER, E. E. ELLIS, Calvin FORRESTOR, J. H. COUNTRYMAN, F. C. McCLORY, and Ben TAYLOR. 

George McCLURE, a young man brough up in this community answered God's call to the ministry, was ordained by this church, and is now its pastor. He is also pastor of Ebenezer East. 

This church is small in membership, but a very loyal member to all our work, having a Sunday School, Training Union, and is faithful in attendance to our Associational meetings.
