The following is an excerpt from Rev. J. W. Joyner's book A History of the Baptists in Butler County (1819-1957):
 
This church is located on the highway leading from Greenville to Oaky Streak in what is known as "the Central Community," eight miles southeast of Greenville. The church was organized June 6, 1926. The presbytery in charge consisted of Rev. W. L. SPEARS, H. R. ARNOLD, and Simon RUSSELL. The charter members were: Minnie HICKMAN, James E. HICKMAN, Annie May HICKMAN, Eunice COOPER, Selan NELSON, Goerge NELSON, W. B. WOOD, Mollie WOOD, Florence WOOD, Velna JERNIGAN, and Lee JERNIGAN. 

The following preachers have served the church as pastors: W. L. SPEAR, W. T. DAVIDSON, A. W. PARKER, T. L. LEE, J. A. FORTNER, Ira HARRIS, Fred BROWN, H. L. HOGAN, W. T. SANDERS, L. B.COGGINS, Melton HARGROVE, and C. V. McMURPHY. M. C. GRIFFIN is the present pastor. 

This church is active in all the work of the Association having a good Sunday School, Training Union and W.M.U.
