The following is an excerpt from Rev. J. W. Joyner's book A History of the Baptists in Butler County (1819-1957):
This is one of the older churches in the Association, having been organized in the year 1865. The organizing was in September, and the charter members were: James T. JONES, Rebecca JONES, J. C. LOCKHART, Martha LOCKHART, Mary LOCKHART, and Pleasant ROUTEN.

Following is a list of pastors of the church: D. H. BURT, W. C. AVANT, Jonathan BELL, B. F. COOPER, Matthew BISHOP, George E. MISE, T. E. MORGAN, R. M. BURT, J. J. PIPKIN, C. C. LLOYD, W. H. CHEATEM, L. B. COHRAN, T. T. DOBBS, A. A. SCRUGGS, Judson COOK, H. S. McMILLIAN, W. T. DAVIDSON, J. L. P. COOK, J. B. OWENS, L. R. TINDAL, Marvin ELMORE, and the present pastor is R. Z. MULLINS.

This information was given by the church clerk, J. A. DAY, who has been one of the active members of this church and the Association.

This church had been host for the Association a number of times and their entertaining is always the best.

Antioch East Church is located six miles north of Greenville.
