Harris notes "for some reason this company was not completed and was abandoned. Robert Christian requested that the Governor allow the company to reorganize."

On February 1, 1861, a muster roll of the
Independent Troop, a cavalry unit formed in Uniontown
appeared in the "Canebrake Herald".
