Funeral services for Randolph Sandlin, 78, Falkville 2, will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at McKendree Methodist Church. Burial isto follow in Herring Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Sandlin died Saturday at 5 p.m. in Block -Chandler- Hall Hospital. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pearl Sandlin, Falkville 2; two daughters, Miss Ruby Sandlin and Mrs. Claude Scott, both of Falkville 2, and one brother, Bland Sandlin, Hartselle 1. Mr. Sandllin was a member of the McKendree Methodist Church.

Miss Clara Sharp, daughter of Mr. A.J. Sharp, died on the 4th of July. She had been sick for a long time, and death was a relief to her from her pain and suffering. About three weeks since, Mr. Thomas F. Sharp, a young man full of hope and promise of the same family, died.

I.D. SHARPE DIES AT HIS DECATUR ROUTE 2 HOME, TUESDAY (8/27/29)
I. D. Sharpe, 69 years of age, passed away after a brief illness at his residence, Decatur Route 2, Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock. The deceased is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Walter Burleson and Mrs. Lonnie Shinpoc, of Decatur; Mrs. Will Thompson, of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. John Harris, of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Mary Francis, of Somerville, and two brothers, J. H. Sharpe, of Texas, and J.G. Sharpe of Arkansas. Funeral services will be held by Rev. John R. Turner at the residence at 1:30 Thursday afternoon. Interment will be made at Mr. Tabor, four miles east of Hartselle, at 4 o'clock, Priest in charge. The following will be active and honorary pallbearers: Nick Pepper, E. Laxton, John Halbrooks, John Winton, J.A. Putman, Ernest Howell, D. Halbrooks and John Standley.

The Lewis County Herald, Hohenwald, TN Vol. LXIV, No. 13, Thursday, May 29, 1963 Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Mr. Smith Walter C. Smith, 85, died Saturday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Johnny Odom of Swiss Colony after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home with Rev. B.F. Webb officiating. Burial was in Downey Cemetery. A native of Morgan County, Alabama, Mr. Smith had made his home in Lewis County most of his life. He was a retired farmer of the Little Swan Community. Mr. Smith was married to the former Jennie Spears 61 years ago. Surviving are his wife, eight daughters, Mrs. Odom, Mrs. Fannie Conner and Mrs. Cecil Conner of Hohenwald, Mrs. Lula Hughes of Paducah, Kentucky; Mrs. Lenora Burnett of Clinton, Missouri; Mrs. Vernell Myatt of Dickson; Mrs. Audie Lucas of Livonia, Michigan; two sons, Clayburn C. Smith and Alfred Smith of Hohenwald; two half-sisters, Mrs. Alma Shann and Mrs. Carrie Pollock of Hohenwald, one half-brother, Ed Hill of Hot Springs, Arkansas; forty-five grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.

Mrs. Nancy Sparkman, daughter of James W. and Elizabeth Copeland, was born in White County, Tenn., June 14, 1822. Sister Sparkman professed religion and joined the Methodist Church in the year 1840, in which she lived a consistent member until her death. She was married to Lewis Sparkman in 1843, and died near Flint, Ala., Dec. 23, 1884, from pneumonia. Her body was deposited in the Forest Chapel cemetery on Christmas-day. She was sick only a few days, but bore her intense suffering with great patience. She was the mother of twelve children, five of whom have gone to live in a bright world beyond this vale of tears, where she has now gone to reunite with them. The seven children that are left here to mourn with her bereaved husband and aged father are all members of the Church. Sister Sparkman was conscious to the very last hour of her life, and begged her children not to weep for her, that she was not at all alarmed at death, nor afraid to die. She was a kind, indulgent mother; a loving and devoted wife; a precious grandmother to her many grandchildren. Our Church has lost a faithful member.Mrs. E. M. Isley

Valerie "Claudine" LYLE Grantland Stanley, 88, of Priceville kept her appointment with God on Tuesday, December 13th, 2005. She passed after a lengthy battle with cancer while a patient of Falkville Health Care. She was born September 8th, 1917 in Morgan County, the eldest daughter of Harry Floyd Lyle and Dora Edna Breeding Lyle of Somerville. Her only living sibling is Myrtis Lyle (of Decatur). She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lottie Belle (Lyle); her brothers, Leo, Leroy and Cleemon (Lyle); two of her children Glenda Sue Grantland Owens McCutcheon and Harold Keith Grantland. She was first married to George Odis "Ode" Grantland and later married Woodrow Stanley of Chicago; both deceased. (She is a grandchild of Edward Wesley Lyle and Anna Levisa Grantland Lyle, and John Mason Breeding and Mary Louisa Whitten Breeding.) Claudine worked for many years in Chicago before returning home to work at, and retire from, Automatic Electric Huntsville. Claudine's grandchildren are Radford, Ricky and Leslie Fay Pannell, Phyllis and Vonnie Owens, Judy, Laura, Tammi and Keith Grantland, and Joey and Brandy Jackson. She has eighteen great grandchildren (Vonnie's children: Christopher Billy Meriwether/McCutcheon, Judge David Meriwether, "Kristi" Kwanja Davis and Julia DaVonna Davis; Radford's children: Chance and Sawyer Pannell; Judy's children: David and Tiara Jesse; Joey's child: Dillon Jackson; Ricky's children: Michael and Mathew Pannell; Leslie Fay's children: Whitney and Briana Ball; Laura Lee's children: Stephani, Marissa and Walter Sawka; Keith's child: Bryan Grantland; and Brandy's child: Taylor Steele) and six great great grandchildren (Judge's children: Sarena Kendra and Kristen Ciara Meriwether; Tiara's children: Joshua Keith, Ruby Lynn and Andria Rachelle Duncan; and Michael's child: Justin Pannell). Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hartselle Memory Gardens where she will be interred next to her daughter Sue with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Makyna Grace Stevens,9 month old daughter of Priceville will be Tuesday,Dec.11, 2007 at 11 a.m.at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Hawkins and Chris Presnell officating. Burial will be in Cornith Cemetery in Cullman County.Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 9 p.m at the funeral home. MaKyna Grace,our sweet baby girl was born Feb.27,2007 at Decatur General Hospital.She was called.home on Saturday Dec.8,2007.During her short stay here,she touched and blessed many lives. Survivors include her parents Kevin Stevens and Brandie Murphy Stevens;one sister Jordon Stevens of Priceville;grandparents Earl & Connie Murphy of Hartselle;Pam & Jeff Hadley of Joppa and Douglas Stevens of of Somerville; and great-grandparents Myrtle Thompson of Priceville;and Dorthy and Wayne Stevens of Somerville. Pallbearers will be Earl Murphy [PaPaw] and Kevin Stevens [daddy]. In lieu of flowers te famiy request memorials be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Fund.

Alabama Enquirer, November 14, 1895 - David Sybert, son of James and Mirinda Sybert, died September 09, 1895, age 13 years, with malarial fever. He was buried at Forest Chapel Cemetery, Rev. W. C. Woodall conducted the burial service.

The Alabama Enquirer, August 08, 1895, The death angel has lighted again in our midst and taken one of our most lovely members, sister Martha Ann Sybert. She was born Oct. 14, 1859, and departed this life July 29th 1895. She was buried at Basham Chapel.

New Decatur Advertiser, May 20, 1904, Neel News, Solomon Sybert, an aged and highly respected citizen of Neel, died May 14, 1904, with pneumonia. He lived a consistent member of the Baptist Church for a number of years. He was a brave Confederate soldier and also a true worker for Christ. On the 16th he was laid to rest at Hopewell Cemetery by the side of his wife, who had a few years ago preceded him to the grave.

New Decatur Advertiser, October 11, 1906, South Town News - James F. Syberts was born June 14, 1848, died October 02, 1906. He leaves a wife and four children. He married Miss Marinda Sparkman January 05, 1878. She died July 14, 1887. He has four children dead. He was married August 07, 1889, to Miss Celia Locke. He joined the M.E. South in the year 1873 and lived a Christian Life. He was loved by everybody. His remains were laid to rest in Forest Chapel Cemetery on the following day. Revs. J.P. Woodall and A.B. Wilson conducted the funeral services.
