William C Hartsell

While the death of Brother W. C. Hartsell brought sadness to his relatives ad friends, it has also left a shadow of sorrow in the hearts of those of us who had the good fortune of knowing him but a few months.

Bro Hartsell was born near the present town of Hartselle in Morgan County, September 23, 1840. His educational advantages were limited. He attended the common public schools of his day, but by close observation and diligent application, he developed into a very capable and successful business man, in which capacity he will be greatly missed in this community. From a business standpoint, he was a marked success and left for us a monument of integrity and honesty.

Bro Hartselle was first married in the year 1866 to Miss Mary Reeves, who lived but a short time. He was again married in the year 1869 to Miss Annie (Ruanna) Crow. This last union was blessed of God in the gift of seven noble children, three sons and four daughters.

To the bereaved: the loving heart that never had a thought of you save one of love, shall beat no more. The strong, brave and noble patriarch of God, after living out his years, sleeps now his last long sleep. The pulseless body is laid away to sleep until it shall be raised in the image of Him who robbed death of its sting and the grave of its victory. Yours was a good husband and father and he lived to a good ripe old age. Yes, the dear, patient, loving father has gone home.
