Coach Bobby Freeman passed away Dec. 30, 2003, at East Alabama Medical Clinic. Coach Freeman, formerly of Somerville, was 71 years of age, an Auburn University graduate, coached at Auburn University for 10 years and played in the NFL for seven years. Coach Freeman was a devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita Freeman; two sons, Bobby Freeman Jr. and Ricky Freeman; three daughters, Kymberly Freeman, Kathie (Eidson) Freeman and Kelly (Bost) Freeman; 22 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will be remembered and will live in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held tonight, Jan. 2, 2004, from 6 to 8 at JeffCoat-Trant Funeral Home, 1500 Frederick Road in Opelika. Church services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Believer’s Church at 2 p.m., 1415 Moores Mill Road, Auburn. Graveside services will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Believer’s Church, Auburn, AL or Sandhill Bible Church, Auburn, AL. Published in the Decatur Daily on 1/2/2004.
