Vera Ileene Walker Abercrombie

Vera Ileene Walker Abercrombie, 84, of Decatur, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at Huntsville Hospital, was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Somerville, to Carl Conrad Walker and Lizzie Velma Dean Walker. She was an educator and teacher for 30 years in the Morgan County school system.
Her husband, Arlo Thurman Abercrombie, daughter-in-law, Valerie Ann Morrice Abercrombie, and great-granddaughter, Erin Valerie McElrath, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Larry R. Abercrombie and wife, Jan; two granddaughters, Laurie Abercrombie and Lisa Abercrombie McElrath and husband, Allen; two great-grandsons, Justin and Nicholas McElrath, all of Decatur; one brother, Doyle Walker and wife Fay, of Hartselle; one sister, Dorothy Grubbs, of Huntsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Doc Abercrombie, Calvin Spurlin, Jere Spurlin, Bill Walker, David Hooper and Bob Neighbor.
Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Spurlin Sr.
