Taken directly from headstones in the Center Grove Cemetery, [Township #7South;Range # 1 West; Section # 33] which is located adjacent to the New Salem Baptist Church at intersection of Ausby Light Road & Center Grove Road in Center Grove, Alabama. Data obtained: August 2002. NOTE: Some of the cemetery is also located across from the church on Center Grove Road. Those named here are located in the part of the cemetery which is older & located closest to the actual church building. [1] Daniel A. Light b. 8-3-1841 & d. 3-27-1919 "Father" & "Kind father of love thy art gone to thy rest";husband of & SS Malinda J. Roan Light
[2] Malinda J. Light b. 8-5-1841 & d. 4-22-1919 "Mother" * "A tender mother & a faithful friend" [Malinda Jane Roan Light, dau of Gabriel Roan]
[3] Monroe Light b. 5-19-1876 & d. 4-9-1944 "Father" hus of Alice, SS as Alice [Solomon Monroe Light was son of Daniel A. Light]
[4] Alice Light b. 9-10-1876 & d. 4-9-1944 "Mother" wife of Monroe
[5] James W. Light b. 7-12-1869 & d. 11-25-1906 SS wife Bettie [old style stone said, "My beloved, he is only sleeping", was broken & then replaced in abt 1956 by daughter without previous inscription. James Wesley was son of Daniel Alexander Light]
[6] M.E. [Bettie] Barnett Light b. 6-4-1870 & d. 4-2-1956, SS husband James Wesley Light [Bettie Barnett was dau of Isaac T. Barnett]
[7] Addie Light b. 12-9-1893 & d. 4-15-1906 [old stone located near the road & underneath large old tree with roots that threaten to destroy this stone]
[8] S. W. Light b. 4-23-1882 & d. 12-5-1914 Masonic Emblem on flat stone slab with marker "...husband, how I miss thee much..." Silas Wilson Light, son of Daniel A. Light
