Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church is the oldest active church and cemetery in Henry County. It was organized April 5, 1834, with Rev. John W. Pellum serving as the first pastor. Mr. Hoyt Warren devoted five “Henry’s Heritage” articles to the church and cemetery, and in the Feb. 12, 1982 article he includes many burials which are no longer evident. Dozens of graves are marked only by native stones, bricks, or small pieces of marble, and dozens more graves are not marked at all. The following census includes all graves which were identifiable in April, 2001.
