Location: On the right of county road 29 to Bakerhill, just before the Barbour county line. A brick house on the right and about 300 feet behind it. In Caruther Lynn's Obituary the cemetery was called the Stanford-Lynn cemetery. Current Alabama DOT map shows it as the Lynn cemetery. In the 50's the Lynn family enclosed the Lynn section of the cemetery with a fence. Captain Stanford's (stone) headstone is still visible back among the growth of pine trees. Heaven only knows who else is buried there.

In the trees behind the cemetery is a wooden marker stating that a civil war Captain lies here. I do not know if it is still there. I saw it about 10 years ago; he has a marker, but it is badly deteriorated. [Source: Deo Vindice, Homer Jones, SCV]

STANFORD, Thomas Quincy (Captain Company "G" 39th Alabama Infantry Volunteers) Killed in the battle of Stones River at Murfreesboro Tennessee. wounded Murfreesboro December 31, 1862, d. nearby January 2, 1863 He was the son of Thomas Jefferson Stanford & Dorothy Ann McGee. His wife was Ann Eliza Guilford.

Betty (Stanford) Sandifer and Capt. Thomas Quincy Stanford was my great, great uncle.

This land for the cemetery was supposedly given by Mason Lynn to be used as a cemetery. Family legend has it that numerous slave graves are located in the grove of trees & underbrush.
