"The old Mallet Hill School was located on CR 9 about 2 miles north
of Stough, Alabama.  The building also served as the Mallet Hill Methodist Church
until 1916 when Bethel Methodist Church was built about 50 yards north of it."

of Hazel BLACKMON HOCUTT (1903–1988) and generously submitted by her granddaughter.
"Miss Hazel" taught school in Fayette County and later in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mallet Hill students in 1922 included Coleman, Edward, Icie Mae, Lestus (sic), and Velma BERRY;
Evelyn BRASHER; Allen and V.K. FOWLER; Allen, Biven, and Verdell LOE; Edna, Marion, and Venera OTTS;
Clarence and Joll (sic) PERKINS; Freda, Ila, and Savada POWERS;
Allie, Belvie, Deseree, Eardeal, Grace, Ila, Jessie, Josie, Lesley, Virgie, and Vonnie RAINEY;
Martin STOUGH; and Ruth WELCH.*
