NOTES:  Based on census records, this photograph was taken in Fayette County about 1900.  That year's enumeration shows these people living side by side in Gilpin's Beat #14.  Rev. SELMAN's wife (seated to his left above) was identified as Cyntha/Cynthia Caroline (maiden name unknown).  They were married about 1874, possibly in Bibb Co., AL.

James O. SELMAN (b. Oct 1879, AL) married Suzy or Suda E. (maiden name unknown) about 1898.  Erastus KILLINGSWORTH reportedly married Mary SHIRLEY (sic), 03 Mar 1898, in Fayette County.  However, census records and this photo prove that Mary (b. Feb 1877, AL) was, in fact, the daughter of Rev. SELMAN.  Two other SELMAN children, John and Pearl, died in 1898 and were buried at Shirley Family Cemetery.

Rev. SELMAN was born 23 Aug 1853 and died 25 Aug 1910, possibly in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL, where he and his wife were recorded on the 1910 census.  His body was interred near his children at Shirley Cemetery.
