Mrs. Moore to be buried on Sunday

    Mrs. Ada Roselle Moore 1200 West 14th. Avenue, Sheffield, passed away this morning at her residence. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Southside Baptist Church, Sheffield, with Rev G. T. Prater, pastor officiating.
    Active bearers will be Raymond Moore, Leonard Moore, Earl Moore, Leonard Gower, Calvin Davenport and Bob Anderson.
    Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Brackin of Sheffield, Mrs. Leona Grimes of Town Creek, Mrs. Dorothy Willis of Elesgundo, California, five sons, Lyndon Moore of Belpre, Ohio, Robert E. Moore of Florence, Leander Moore of Sheffield, Sam Moore of Colbert Heights, and Buster Moore of Sheffield, 26 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, four brothers, Les Goins of Frankfort, Charles of Tuscumbia, James of Sheffield and Floyd of Town Creek. Mrs. Moore was born in Colbert County and had been a resident here for the past 25 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

EDNA LUCILLE (MOORE) BRACKIN

EDNA L BRACKIN: Sheffield- Mrs. Edna Lucille Brackin 85, 1200 W. 14th St. died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1987, at Shoals Nursing Home, Tuscumbia.
     A native of Lawrence Co., she had resided in Sheffield for the past 55 yrs. She was the widow of William N. Brackin and a member of Southside Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home chapel, Sheffield, With Rev. Bud Mayfield and Tom Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Shaw Cemetery.
     Visitation will be at the funeral home 6-9 tonight. Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Pauline Smartt, Sheffield, Mrs. Eva Warnick, Gadsden, Miss Annie Mae Brackin, Birmingham; brothers Leander Moore, Sheffield, sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Willis, Sheffield, Mrs. Leona Grimes, Town Creek; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
     Bearers will be Jimmy Moore, Raymond Moore, Jack Moore, Keith Davenport, Billy Moore and Leonard Moore. [ back ]


DOROTHY (MOORE) WILLIS

Columbia Medical Shoals, Muscle Shoals, Al.
     Mrs. Dorothy M. Willis was 76 at her death. Services were held at Spry Funeral Home at the burial in Shaw Cemetery. Officiating at the funeral will be the Rev. Virgil Tittle. She was a native of Lawrence County Al. [ back ]


Services Held today for James H. Moore

James Henry Moore, 47, of 1105 Keller Lane, Tuscumbia, died at his home Sunday morning at 2:45 after a lengthy illness.
     Mr. Moore was a former employee of Reynolds Metals Company. He was a member of the Church of God, Tuscumbia.
     Mr. Moore is survived by his wife at home Mrs. Lula Mae Moore, six daughters: Mrs. Mike Cozma, Miss Opal Moore, Janie, Frances and Shirley Wannell, all of the home and Mrs. Roy Barnes, Lendon Tennessee. Five sons, Howard lee, Billy, Bobby and jimmy Dale Moore all of the home and his mother Mrs. Ada Moore, Sheffield: five brothers; Linden and Sam of Tuscumbia; Leander and Buster of Sheffield; three sisters; Mrs. Leona Grimes, Town Creek, Mrs. Dorothy Willis and Mrs. WN Brackin of Sheffield and two grandchildren.
     Funeral services were today at 2 p.m. at the Church of God, Tuscumbia. Charles Berry Hill, minister of that church, officiated. Burial followed in Shaw Cemetery near Leighton.
     Arrangement was by Chisholm of Florence.

LEANDER MOORE

Leander Moore of Sheffield, Alabama:
     The graveside service for Leander "Lee" Moore 82, 806 Broadway Avenue, will be at 2 p.m. today at Colbert Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Teamana Knight officiating. Spry Funeral Home Sheffield, Al is directing.
     He died Thursday June 2, 1994 at Medical Center Shoals, Muscle Shoals, and Alabama.
     He was a native of Colbert County who retired from TVA's Chemical plant as a boilermaker after 25 years. He was a member of York Terrace Baptist church and boilermakers local 455.
     Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Smith Moore, Sheffield, son David L Moore Florence; daughter Ann L Free, Florence; sister Dorothy Willis, Sheffield; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
     Visitations will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Died Thursday June 2, 1994 at Medical Center Shoals, Muscle Shoals, and Al. [ back ]


LEONA MOORE GRIMES

Leona Moore Grimes:
     Town Creek-Leona Grimes 80 Route 2 died Wednesday July 15, 1992 at Helen Keller Hospital Sheffield, Al.  
     She was a native of Colbert County and a member of the Baptist church, Town Creek, Alabama .
     The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel, Tuscumbia, A L .
     Rev David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Shaw Cemetery.
     Survivors include a son Wayne Grimes, Florence, daughter Betty Davenport, Town Creek, brother Leander Moore, sister Dorothy Willis both of Sheffield. Seven grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
     Bearers will be Earl Eddy, Stuart Henningan, Pruitt Mauldin, L. W. Wagnon, Pinky Willard and Lawrence Huffman. [ back ]


RAYMONDM. MOORE

Sheffield- the graveside service for Raymond M “Fiddler” Moore, 70, 300 Rivermont drive, will be at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery , Tuscumbia, with Donnie Moore officiating. Morrison Funeral home, Tuscumbia is directing.
     He died Saturday September 28, 1991, at Helen Keller Hospital , Sheffield.
     He was a native of Town Creek and lived most of his life in Colbert co.; he was a retired electrician from Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, member of the IBEW 558, Tennessee Folklore Society, Antique Car club, and the Church of Christ. Survivors include wife Mary Delisa Jones Moore, Sheffield; brother Clarence Leonard Moore, Tuscumbia, two nieces and three nephews. Bearers will be Don Ramon Moore, Ted Holland, P.C. Wesson, Jimmie Brumley, Bennie Davis, Sam Kimbrough, and Dan Gasque. Honorary bearers will be Dr. L. Narayan Madasu, Dr. Paul Schuler, Dr. W.B. RUSSELL THEO "BUSTER" MOORE

Buster Moore lived most of his live in Sheffield Al:

     Russell Theo (Buster) Moore, 70, Rt. 11 Florence, Al. died Monday night at his home, following a short illness.
     He was a native of Lawrence County, and living in Florence when he died. He was a retired carpenter helper, a member of the Pentecostal Church.
     The funeral was at 2 p.m. at the Spry Funeral Home Chapel, Sheffield, Alabama with Rev. James Woods officiating. Burial was in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery. His wife Mable Moore survives him: his daughters Betty Brewer, Sheffield, Al., and Doris Rumble of Florence, Al.
     14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
     Sisters Mrs. Lucille Brackin, Sheffield, Mrs. Dorothy Wills, Sheffield, Mrs. Leona Grimes, Town Creek:
     Brothers: Sam Moore, Colbert Heights, and Leander Moore, Sheffield.
     Bearers were Danny Garner, Dale Hughes, Allen Wanner, Darrell Rumble, Terry Rumble, and Larry Coggins.

SAM MOORE

Sam Moore, 86 Route 3, Tuscumbia,
died Tuesday at Shoals Nursing Home.

    He was a native of Tuscumbia and a retired carpenter and farmer. The service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at Morrison-Elkins Funeral Home Chapel, Tuscumbia, Burial will be in Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Mary E. Moore; son, William Earle Moore, Clarence Leonard Moore, both of Tuscumbia, Raymond M Moore, Sheffield; sisters Mrs. Lucille Brackin, Mrs. Dorothy Willis both of Sheffield, Mrs. Leona Grimes, Town Creek; brother Leander Moore, Sheffield: five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. W. EARLE MOORE

    Sheffield- W Earle Moore, 69, 1207 W. 10th street died Saturday, October 17, 1967 at his residence.
     He was a native of Colbert County, a veteran of World War II, and was the owner and operator of Moore Printing Co. for more than 30 years. He was a member of several dulcimer clubs and a member of Valdosta Church of Christ.
    The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Morrison funeral home chapel, Tuscumbia. Burial will be in the Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery, with the funeral directing.
    Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include wife, Virginia R Moore, Sheffield, son Don Ramon Moore, daughter Patsy Anderson, Lebanon, Tennessee, mother Mary Effie Moore, Sheffield, broth-child: three nieces and nephews of the Moore family and seven nieces and nephews of the Richardson family.
     Bearers will be J.B. Cates, Rayford Brown, Edgar Lewis, Roy Smith, Delanie Chafin and Elmo Wilson.
     Honoree bearers will be members of the Shoals Dulcimer and Folk music Association.
