Colbert County Records show a Warranty Deed, dated 5 July 1906, consideration:
$10.00 paid - filed 11 February 1907 From A. J. Looney, wife, Ida K. to trustees
for use of district No. 31. A. J. Looney, A. H. Grissom & J. S. Looney. Convey:
Begin at North East corner of school house West 22 rods, South 12 1/3 rods to
point of beginning and containing one and seven tenths (1 7/10) acres, more of
less, said lot lying due North of present site of the said old Poplar Creek
School House. Same being a part of South East one forth (1/4) of South West one
forth (1/4), Section 13, Township 5, Range 10 West and is conveyed to said
district solely for a cemetery, to be used in connection with the one already in
use at said place, and shall not be used for any other purpose than herein
stated, situated in Colbert County 5 July 1906 before John R. Ayers, Notary
Public, Colbert Co.
One person was buried in
the cemetery before deed was made. It was Laura Mae Looney daughter of Tom and
