I have been looking for 10 years for information on my gr grandfather John W. HOUSE, who died on April 28, 1901. His widow, Mrs. R.J. HOUSE, a citizen of Calhoun County (McFall Post Office address), applied to the State of Alabama for a Confederate widow's pension on June 25, 1901. I would very much like to know: the date of their marriage, when they first appeared in a census of Calhoun County, and a list of any children. It would be a thrill to me to get any information on John W. HOUSE.

Information wnated on parents of Benton Aldan (or Adrien) GRIFFIN. Benton was born abt. 1836 in Calhoun (then Benton) County AL. He enlisted in the army in 1862 in MS. By 1870, he was living in Giles County TN and by 1880 in Milarn County TX.

I am looking for the parents or siblings of William TURNER b. 1829 SC m. Cynthia or Syntha HAYWOOD? bef, 1847. They are listed on the 1850 Benton Co. AL Census. Children were: William Thomas b. 1847, George William b. 1848, Elijah C. b. aft 1850, John L. b. 1850, John L., Sarah "Sallie", Ella and Elisah b. 1863. After the civil war this family moved to the area of Pontotoc Co., MS. William and Syntha are buried in a cemetary in Randolph, MS. Birth on Tombstone looked like 1829, but think it should be 1819. Family stories say William's middle name was Thora? and his father was William TURNER and mother was Belinda Woodbury. Also, William Thomas was to have attended school in Chulafinee, AL. I have been stuck on this family for years. If anyone has any information, I would be glad to exchange what I have.

His father (I believe) also named James is in Monroe County in that census, but there's no male of James, Jr.'s age (about 25) in James, Sr.'s entry. Clara remarried Henry DUBAS, had a daughter Diana. Father of Clara, possibly Jim PINSON, mother, possibly Emma HALL. That's all the info that I have, looking for more to help my sister-in-law, Diana Dubas DeBry.

Would like to have information of a William T. TURNER b. ca 1820 in Benton/Calhoun Co. AL. m. Cyntha HAYWOOD b. ca 1825 GA. Their Children were: William Thomas, George William, Elijah C., John L., Sara, Ella, and Elisha Thora. My Grandfather on my fathers side: William Jefferson SMITH married: Mary PENDERGRASS (Maybe from: Tennessee). Question: My Great Grandfather came from either North Carolina or Virginia, and owned a plantation there prior to the civil war. I haven't found information that can be confirmed, just hand me down stories. Apparently, two former slaves followed my Great Grandfather to Alabama.(John and Sarah SAMPLES) My Grandmother, Mary PENDERGRASS was related I think to Emma SANSOM, of Gadsden, Alabama.
